The Cocke County School System includes two high schools and nine elementary schools. The school system also includes a vocational school and adult education center. It employs more than 350 faculty members and serves over 4,500 students in kindergarten through grade 12. It offers various sports programs that include basketball, cross-country, baseball, softball, volleyball, and track and field. The school district provides an academic program that focuses on the development of reading, language arts and math skills in lower grades. It also teaches history, geography and science. The school district additionally provides instruction in computer applications, music, industrial arts, and health and physical education in higher grades. The Cocke County School System is located in Newport, Tenn.
