this restaurant is as good as ...

this restaurant is as good as a perfect little small town diner can get. the food is awesome, from the pancakes to their steaks all the food is delicious. the attire is, well, anything. patrons come in with their sunday clothes or just shorts and a tee shirt. the Brown Cow is a local favorite and you will often see people stopping there before heading out on the road or before they head to work. the staff is friendly and is quick. the owner is often in the restaurant and he adds a light humor to the atmosphere my joking around with the locals (whom he knows quite well since he has seen almost everyone in the area come in more than 5 times). either way, if you are in newport vermont in the morning and you are hungry the Brown Cow is the best place to eat.

local food for local folks

This is as casual as it gets, if your not wearing a ripped pair of jeans and a john deere t-shirt everyone will be staring at you, the coffee is just barely acceptable to drink, the food is good, however they rush you to place an order then you wait a looonngg time to get it. I was there on a Sunday morning at 8am so the place was not full yet even though it is very small. If you don't drink much coffee and don't mind being gawked at go ahead the omelets are okay, but if you just want to sip a good cup of java and have an enjoyable breakfast seek it elsewhere.
