I was a patient, along with my children for about 12 years. You can hardly ever get an appt. when you need it and must use the walk-in Clinic connected that use the same doctors after hours, emergency, etc.

However, they must not share records, as they cancelled my sons appt we had make over a week prior stating he was not seen enough throughout the year and doctor did not want him as a patient!!! We had been to the walk-in 3-4 times already that year because it was not possible to get a regular doctor appt. I explained this and the nurse only said "Sorry, Dr. Twiddy doesn't want him as his patient." I have always paid ALL my medical bills on time and been there for 12 years with all my kids and this is how I am treated???!!! NEVER going back even though I liked my Doctor (Dr. Steen)

Most of the nurses and people who answer the phone are very rude and dont like to do anything out of there way to help you.

I went here for years and my children still go here. If placed with a doctor you don't like, the staff will refuse to allow a change.

Scheduling staff may be either friendly or extraordinary rude on the phone, depending on their mood. There are a few good doctors at Southwestern. I would not recommend doctor Metzger at all, as he will ignore fixable problems. A friend ended up with a debilitating hip problem that caused great personal grief. In the end he had to work around Dr. Metzger to get it fixed. Dr. Jones is also not recommended.

Also, it's also far too easy to get patient's personal information. I have been sent other patient's records, and my ex husband and his wife (who live hours away) have called in and had my records changed (she was added as my "sister"). My personal phone number was overwritten more than once with theirs in the past. When a call is received, staff asks "is your phone number and address..." thereby giving it to whoever called. No privacy protection.

It's nice when your doctors understudy isn't trying to sell you skin care during an appt. and doesn't focus on your child completely. She talks up a storm about her "at home" business and you forget all the important questions you had because that's allll she keeps talking about. Not the time nor the place... Thanks for the samples though?

Here's the thing... SWMC is great if you can get in the door. Every time I call to schedule an appointment I'm being told I have to schedule something a month or more in advance. My son was seen yesterday at the ER and I was told to follow up with his primary doctor in two days. I called this morning because he still has a fever and I was told it would be more than a week before I could get him in!!! Then they said I should take him to the walk in clinic. I also called to get my older son in for his school physical he doesn't turn 4 until the 31st of August and he is suppose to start school Sept 6Th and won't have all of his shots because they won't get him in for an appt until October!!!!!!!!! This very unacceptable for a parent who sets standards for their children's health care. I will be look for new a pediatrician!
