One of our children what not that happy in his other Kindergarten, and we thought "if he doesn't love Kindergarten, will he ever learn to like school? And if he doesn't ever like school, what a long arduous journey that will become." The Shepherd Valley kindergartens are worth visiting - it's hard to describe the warmth and nurturing that students feel in those beautiful classrooms. Anyhow, while he was enjoying his early childhood years at school, we learned more about the philosophy of the grades - the son described above is doing really well in the fourth grade, and, notably, he does enjoy going to school. During his day, he plays the violin, reads, does lots of math, gets to be in a play each year, has 'games class' instead of 'P.E.', is learning Mandarin and Spanish.... In addition to it's deep academic foundation, the whole school has a lot of heart. Give a call, take a look at the website, visit the school. It's worth the time to investigate.

Shepherd Valley Waldorf School is simply a great place for our child. He totally loves it and never wants to leave. Surprisingly, I have become quite a Waldorf "enthusiast" just from my family's experiences at Shepherd Valley.
