Be VERY careful. What was promised and guaranteed didn’t happen. I took my dog to Marks-A-Lot kennel to get the basic obedience training and was very dissatisfied.

The short end:
Dan and the trainers didn’t evaluate my dog to see what she knew. She still had all of her bad habits. Dan treated me and my dog with much disrespect (threatened to set her loose on his grounds and/or tie her up to his fence until I got there to pick her up).

Some details:
Upon arrival Dan listened and agreed to what needed to be worked on. When I picked my pup up after a month, I quickly learned that she was not evaluated properly and learned nothing new from when I dropped her off. One of her worst habits that I was hoping to remedy is her jumping (which she still does today) and was not corrected by her trainer.

When I confronted Dan about this and notified him of his guarantee, he allowed me to bring her back, but when I called to make sure all was well, he got furious and was yelling on the phone, called me an “idiot” multiple times, and threatened my dog.

I of course left work, drove back out there, and picked her up immediately.

I would highly recommend staying clear away from this place and would hate to see anyone else (and their dog) subject to what I had to deal with.

This place is terrible. The employees are EXTREMELY rude, and I can only imagine how my dog was treated after how they treated me for asking a few questions. They've obviously got something to hide.

Care-A-Lot kennels treated my dogs so well! We went to florida last august and we took Pippy and Brea to this place. We spent about three days searching all over springfield and nixa areas for an acceptable kennel! I must say you better be careful where you take your precious family members because some of these places are only in it for the money and dont give your babies the best care! One place even told me that if i paid extra they would play with my dog!! It was such a relief when we pulled into care-a-lot! I just got one of those good feelings that you get when something just feels right! The staff that i met seemed very nice and i could tell they liked animals which is very important! I did cry when i dropped off my dogs but they were very nice there and assured me they would be fine and they showed me where the dogs would be staying and we brought their beds and blankets some toys and their own food. Oh did i mention i also left a disposable camera and asked them to take pictures of my dogs while they were there! They even let me call in to check on them halfway through our vacation. Brea and Pippy were so excited to see us and didnt act scared or shy when they brought them out! We have gone to a place where Brea was too scared to even walk up to us when we picked her up from boarding! Care-a-lot just went above and beyond what i expected for my dogs at a kennel. The pictures were amazing that they took of my dogs playing in the yard with other dogs and staff members rubbing their bellies! I forgot to mention they have a well fenced area that they let the dogs run and play in throughout the day. They match the dogs personalities and allow them time out of their kennels in the nice sized yard and i know my babies loved those country smells out there! they dont get to be in the country since we live in the city! The owners live on the site which is a huge added bonus to this kennel! Care-a-lot did raise their price a small bit but honestly thats not going to keep me away from using them again! The care they got cant be matched anywhere else that i visited! In fact we are using them again this year for vacation and maybe this time i wont cry! Needless to say it will take a lot more to keep us from using them! If you are needing somewhere to board your dogs then i highly suggest you go visit this kennel and visit with the staff! You wont regret it i promise! Well i could spend days saying all the wonderful things care-a-lot did for us but i wont make this any longer! Just remember your dogs are a part of the family and they deserve the amazing love and care they will get at this kennel! So before you take your dog somewhere else at least go meet the staff and walk around the facility! You will be just as happy as we were and maybe even more so!
