I called the Cat Clinic trying...

I called the Cat Clinic trying to find a place that would see my cat after being run over by a car and the local emergency center was closed. I was told that I could bring my cat in but that they werent sure when they could actually look him over because they had a "full house." My cat couldnt move his back legs at all. (The vet I ended up at, told us a little while later that he was paralyzed.)

While I understand the need to take care of customers during their appointment times, etc. An emergency should be taken seriously.

The clinic I went to pretty much met me at the front door and took my cat back immediately to be checked out by the vet.

I would not recommend Cat Clinic to anyone

This is a review of Dr. Gloria Leopard at Cats Only veterinary clinic in Norman, Oklahoma. If you love your cat, please do yourself a huge favor and avoid this clinic and Dr. Leopard like the plague. Dr. Leopard definitely seems to love money, but she does not seem to love animals. Dr. Leopard's diagnoses seem more like guess work; she will perform improvisational experiments on your cat, rather than utilizing actual medical expertise to find the true root of your cat's condition --- all at the expense of your cat's health and happiness, not to mention your pocketbook. Her bedside manner could not be worse and getting an intelligent answer to any completely reasonable question is like pulling teeth. As a result, you learn to walk on eggshells around her unprofessional attitude and immature temper, and avoid asking her important questions altogether. My nightmarish experiences with Dr. Leopard have led me to believe that she is a heartless person and a disgrace to the health care profession. Please read her other bad reviews and also note that Dr. Gloria Leopard DVM has been cited by the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Examiner's Board --- a serious red flag, as the Board does not issue these citations lightly. Here is an excerpt from the citation, which is typical of her loose cannon approach to veterinary care:

"Respondent's [Dr. Leopard] recommended treatment of the mixing of Gentocin into fluids for subcutaneous
injection by the cat owners is not found as an accepted practice described in any known veterinary
literature, probably due to the concerns length of treatment or drug toxicity. Also, despite increases
in renal values, the use of Amikacin even though there was no indication of infection on the complete
blood count, was cause for concern in treating Inara and could have contributed to the cats renal
toxicity. A prudent veterinarian should have recognized renal compromise on the blood work performed
and not used an aminoglycoside antibiotic at that time."

I cannot recommend Dr. Leopard or the Cats Only clinic any less. If it were possible to give a zero-star rating, I would. AVOID

When we first started going to...

When we first started going to Dr Leopard, she was an amazing vet. However, about a year and a half ago, I was forced to lodge a complaint against her. This is at least one reason why her file at the Oklahoma Veterinary Board lists "Disciplined Yes". Here is a reference to the complaint as I filed it: http://www.flame.org/~explorer/inara/inara-letter-state.pdf

GREAT CAT CLINIC

I have been a client of Dr. Gloria Leopard of "Cats Only" for about 7 to 8 years. My cats have always received the best possible care. Dr. Leopard has always been very well informed and kept me well informed regarding all issues involved in their care. This is especially important to me since some of my cats are elderly and some do not respond well to strangers.. I always feel very comfortable when my felines are at "Cats Only" in Norman.

WE LOVE CAT WOMAN

We want everyone to know that we love Dr. Leopard and so do our cats. We all think she is the best around, and her staff is awesome!! They are there for us as well as our kitty cats. We wouldn't drive over 70 miles if we didn't love her and think her and her staff were the best. We had an old cat that was misdiagnosed by other vets when we finally found Dr. Leopard, she straightened her out. She was very well taken care of and very much pampered by Dr. Leopard and her staff. We have a baby kitty that we just took to her recently, without an appointment, we just walked in and Dr. Leopard was there to take care of us. We thought our little baby was too sick to save but her and the staff there showed us dfferent. We now have a healthy little boy kitty that is so lovable and gives us so much joy. We have many cats here, some ours and a lot of strays, and she always takes care of them all. She has gone out of her way to do all she can to make our lives and our cats lives much better. We were so lucky to find her. Someone that could actually take care of our cats the way we thought they should be taken care of. We would never question her advice or treatment if she thought it was the best. We trust her with out cats like we would a doctor with our children.THANK YOU DR. LEOPARD!!

A Great "Cats Only" Veterinarian

I have known Dr. Leopard for many, many years, and she is one of the most caring and informed veterinarians I know. She does whatever it takes to save a cat's life or cure a really tough disease. She has state-of-the-art equipment in her facility, and lots of small birds and cat trees to entertain the cats and make them feel more at ease while visiting the vet (which is always so stressful for many cats). Her spay and neuter surgeries are done by laser, thus reducing blood loss and shortens recovery. Her staff has always been very attentive to any and all cats I have taken to her clinic over the years. Dr. Leopard does extensive travel to continuing education seminars to keep up on the latest cat diseases, drugs and protocols. Often she would prescribe a drug I had never heard of because she knew of the latest and greatest drugs for cats She is one of the best veterinarians I have ever come across and one visit to her clinic would convince anyone of this too.

Dr. Leopard - ONLY

The title tells how we feel about Dr. Leopard. [What a name for a cat vet!] We found Dr. Leopard quite by accident after taking our cat to the emergency clinic and she happened to be on duty. Unfortunately, there was nothing that no one could have done for Cindy. She was in Gods hands and he chose to take her. The compassion and loving kindness she showed us and our Cindy that night clinched it for us. She was our choice for our vet needs. We have two very spoiled cats and unfortunately they have had some medical problems. Dr. Leopard treated them and they are fine now. Dr. Leopard and her staff are above and beyond in their professionalism and heart-felt care for kitties and their owners. We have recommended her to many people and will continue to do so.

I had the good fortune to discover Dr. Leopard during an emergency room visit at the Southside Animal Emergency Clinic located on I-240. My beautiful 17 year old tortie Cindy became ill and I took her to the ER clinic. Dr. Leopard was on duty and she quickly assessed Cindy's condition but unfortunately there was nothing Dr. Leopard could do for Cindy and Cindy quietly passed away. During this time, Dr. Leopard exhibited compassion and respect for Cindy and Dr. Leopard's actions did not go unnoticed by myself and Mother.

It was during this time that I was looking for a new vet. I was dissatisfied with the one I had but after seeing Dr. Leopard's compassionate care for Cindy, I knew I had found the vet I was looking for. Dr. Leopard treats the two cats I now have. Each of my cats have various health issues and Dr. Leopard has successfully treated each cat. With each health issue, Dr. Leopard fully explains the issue and treatment options with me. Both of my cats are healthy and happy and I attribute that to the excellent care they receive at Cats Only.

The staff is wonderful and friendly. I am extremely happy to have found Dr. Leopard and will/have recommended her to anyone looking for a great vet.

EXCELLENT

Dr. Leopard is great. She is the only vet that was able to cure my sick cat of a chronic cough. I would highly recommend her to anyone. In fact, I drive 80 miles one way for her to care for my cat.

Its a great clinic.

I am saddened to see the other reviews here.

I am nothing but pleased with the care and service I received here. My husband and I are new to Norman, and did not have any idea who a good vet would be. Our cat got really sick one saturday, we called several clinics and the vets had all left for the day. We called Cats Only, the doctor came back to see our cat. He had a heartattack and got a clot that made his back legs stop working- he was really bad off. The staff immediately took our cat and started helping him. Later that night we unfortunately had to put our cat to sleep. It was after hours and Dr. Leopard came in for it. We got a very nice sympathy card too.

We have since taken our new cat to cats only. She has been fixed and declawed with a laser. No clinics in Norman do laser declaws. It was great to see how fast my cat healed and didnt seem painful at all! she's playing already. the prices are very reasonable for the area; its to bad she doesnt work on dogs.

My Two Cats

Each of my cats have been treated very kindly and with genuine concern at Cats Only Vet Clinic. Both Dr. Leopard and her staff are especially gentle with them. Furthermore, Dr. Leopard tends to think "outside the box" when treating them and communicates well with her clients when making a diagnosis. I especially like that she responds quickly to email questions and that her staff is so knowledgeable and helpful over the telephone.

Gold Standard of Care

I moved here to Norman a little while ago and not only have cats, but horses as well.. When I went to my equine vet (who is one of the top clinics in the country - down in Goldsby), I asked if they knew anyone who would be really good with my cats.. They said they only use Dr. Leopard, as her standard of care was was the same as they expected of their veterinarians, in their clinic.

I will have to say that when I walked into her clinic and saw the attitude of her "clinic cats", how her exams rooms are decorated specifically for her patients.. and her immediate ability to see something in one of my kitties that I should have caught... was remarkable..

But the one aspect of her practise is that I admire the most, is when I called her one day because I was having a lot of trouble with my new kitten, she came over to see her environment to see how she could help.. Thank-goodness for all of us.. A couple of small changes (but huge in the scheme of things)... and both Squeeky and I are much happier!!!

I'm afraid Dr. Leopard is now stuck with all of us!!!! Thank-you for all of your support and how much you do for us....
