This might be a great place for the very reform, but not for those seeking a traditional funeral. For example, a viewing was presented to us as a default option because "some people don't really believe the person is dead until they see the body."

Agree that they are sloppy with the details -- my husband's personal effects were left with the medical examiner's; they did not pick them up when they took his body. When I asked later if they would, the answer I got was that the medical examiner would release them to the next of kin. Fortunately, the examiner's office had already told me the funeral home could pick them up, so when I insisted they did go get them. Among them was my husband's wedding ring.

I engaged them in the first place because this was a sudden, unexpected death in freezing weather and it was just easier to have a full-service process. But if I were planning in advance, I would definitely choose another funeral home.
