The staff is very rude and unknowledgeable and watch the prices they charge you...they aren't the same as on the shelf!

NICE PLACE BUT TOO EXPENSIVE

I TOOK MY KIDS TO SEE THE SHARKS AT CAPTAIN NEMO'S BUT WAS SHOCKED AT THE HIGH PRICES. THIS IS A NICE PLACE TO VISIT BUT I WOULDN'T BUY ANYTHING HERE! THERE ARE ALSO SIGNS POSTED EVERYWHERE WARNING THAT THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON. THAT, PLUS ALL THE DEAD FISH FLOATING IN THE VARIOUS TANKS, MAKES ME VERY LEERY OF THIS PLACE.

Customer Complaint

I have been a customer at this store since it opened, and I just wasn't happy with the performance of the product sold to me. Apart from 3 to 5 tiny holes on the outside of the pyramid, 99% of the thing did not dissolve at all. It was still the exact same size as the unused ones--it even still had the lightly carved decoration on the outside of the plaster. It simply didn't dissolve as intended. Just saying the product worked as intended doesn't make it so.

I've had my water quality tested by the store employees twice, when guppies I purcased there all died. They told me my water quality was great, as was the alkalinity. My circulation and filtration are also good. I care for my fish, which is why I feel cheated that my fish didn't get enough food for 3 days.

The fact that he so adamantly refused to let me return the product indicates to me that the owner doesn't purchase his products from the manufacturer. Otherwise, he would simply refund my money and send the product back to them for his own refund. Therefore, he must purchase old, outdated, and re-sold products for as cheaply as possible. As indicated by the copyright date on the back of the package (which DOES indicate when the product was manufactured, as copyrights are updated every year, and whenever the packaging changes, which is usually pretty often) my product was almost 5 years old when I purchased it.

While I would rather shop at a privately-owned store than a big, corporate-owned chain, I simply won't shop somewhere who treats their customers so badly. The product cost only $4.25. (FYI...big rip-off since PetSmart has the same product for $1.99, and they STAND BEHIND the products they sell.) Wouldn't it have been worth it to just give me the credit & keep me as a customer rather than talk down to me and try to convince me that the product worked perfectly? I've kept fish for years, and I do also have a 100 gallon tank with aquatic turtles. I've spent a lot of money in your store over the years. Thanks to your terrible policies, bad customer service, and bad attitude, all my money will be now be going to PetSmart and Petco.

Do not shop here EVER!

I recently tried to return a 3-day feeding pyramid that did not dissolve in my tank as it should have. My fish essentially went hungry while I was gone. The owner of this store (now called "Captain Nemo's Aquarium Supercenter") was RUDE and ignorant. He refused to even exchange the product (which I later learned was manufactured in 2004...it is now 2008). I would NEVER shop here again. I'll be taking my business to PetSmart or Petco next time.

Ok, I will be as polite about this as possible. Customer purchased 3 day feeder that is incased in plaster of paris. The rate that plaster of paris dissolves is dependent upon the temperature of the water and how acid the water is. Acidic water will cause it to dissolve quicker and alkaline water will have it dissolve slower. The pyramid had obvious areas that the food was properly released from and other areas that were exposed which had food in them. This was explained to the customer ad nauseum, yet he continued to find other reasons to return the food, including noting that the food was 4 years old. After showing him that this was the copyright date of the package, he then began to demand we take back his food. Forget the fact that it did what is was supposed to do, TIME RELEASE his food. He is upset that the pyramid still had shape after three days. So I guess if it had dissolved too quickly and clouded his tank, we would have been upset that it clouded his tank. Also forget the fact that he could also take it out the tank for use at a later date, basically getting more than he paid for. So now he has started on a path of trashing our store for the whopping $4.25 that I would not return because the food did as it is supposed to! I can only hope that this gets us tons of traffic to come and visit our store. Oh, come by on Tuesday nights for our free shark feedings at 7:00PM.
