Provided by YP.comI was a bit leery after reading some of the reviews on this webpage about using this business. Do not let them persuade you to skip this bakery! Scrumptious cake, Great atmosphere, and very helpful staff are all to be found at this shop. I have now continued to order treats on multiple occasions and never regretted it.

Provided by YP.comThis place was excellent! My daughter bought a wedding cake from The Cakery and had a wonderful experience. The owner Bob had a personal consultation with our family providing tasting and expert opinions to make a beautiful cake. The wedding cake turned out better than we had dreamed and tasted better than I had remembered at the consultation. The prices were fair and the service was unbeatable. I highly recommend this business.

Provided by YP.comI ordered two cakes from Bob - one for my daughters baptism and one for my brother-in-laws birthday (both being held on the same day). When my husband picked them up, he forgot one of the cakes. Not only was The Cakery outstanding to deal with BEFORE we even ate their cakes - they personally delivered the forgotten cake to our home!!! I can't tell you what a huge help that was to us! Both of the cakes were fantastic - exactly what I ordered and more than what I expected in taste.
Don't be swayed by the prior negative posts - you won't be sorry!
Thank you for the outstanding service (and cakes!!).

I have bought at least 10 birthday cakes from this bakery. The most amazing Elmo and Hello Kitty you have ever seen. A 40th birthday cake that looked like stacks of presents - just gorgeous. Every party everyone has to know where the cake is from. I have NEVER had a problem and I have always been treated nicely so I was shocked at the other reviews. I think the cost is fair for the quality and design of these cakes - I would never order from anywhere else!

Provided by YP.comWhen I called for info they were very helpful. I went in with a drawing that I wanted on the top of the cake for my daughters birthday. The staff was very polite and I was amazed that I could get the cake done on such short notice. Upon picking up cake, the decorations were just beautiful (exactly as I wanted them) - the cake was delicious. I would definitely order more cakes from them and also recommend to other people.
Keep up the good work, you are all artists and deserve an applause.
Thank you again for such wonderful service and a beautiful, tasty cake.

Provided by YP.comThe Cakery went far above my expectations! We ordered our wedding cake and groom's cake from The Cakery. From the very beginning, Bob went above and beyond what we thought we'd get!
The groom's cake was the coolest thing I've ever seen - he made us a replica of the White Sox World Series trophy.
Our cake was the perfect picture from what I asked him to create. He matched the colors and the topper perfectly. It looked like a picture from a magazine.
The cake was delicious. I've never had such moist and tasty cake! The flavors went well together, and everyone at the reception wanted to know where the cake came from.
I'd recommend Bob to anyone!

Provided by YP.comOrdered a cake for my daughter's wedding. The Cakery was recommended as a partner with Riverside Receptions in Geneva and we had heard their cakes were great. It's a bad situation and I'm not sure who is more responsible, Riverside or Cakery - but the end result is extremely disappointing. We took time to choose filling and cake combinations that our guests would enjoy, but it was a waste of time. Guests were served an extremely tiny piece of cake and not given any choice of flavors. We asked the kitchen to bring out more cake and give a choice, but the didn't understand or want to cooperate. We thought maybe there wasn't enough cake... but then we saw the groom's cake was never cut and one tier of the main cake was never cut. They sent all this cake home with us when what we really wanted was something our guests could enjoy.
This partnership of The Cakery and Riverside Receptions is a major FAIL!!! And I have no idea whether or not the cake was tasty, the tiny piece served was not enough to tell.

Provided by YP.comI was going to use this bakery to make my Granddaughters golden birthday cake and spoke with Bob I live in California and he siad we could communicate via e mail until I arrived in Illinois closer to the party. We sent an e mail with ideas just as instucted and we recieved one back stating that they do not do it via e mail. I phoned Bob and he stated that the person who does his e mails he has problems with his customer service after clear understanding on both parts Bob explained that he would e mail pictures of a cake the next day that we coukd maybe change the theme on. I was pleased with that and never recieved anything, I waited until the next day and called the bakery still not recieving the e mail, he stated that they were not able to email it to that address ( the same one that was sent to before) and had not even bothered to phone letting us know he was having trouble. He said he is very busy and has a small shop and take the only people he can find to help him. Again not showing confidence in the ability to get it done right. I explained that cost had no limits and we just wanted to be confident that it could be done in the time frame now that another week had passed. Bob was getting emotional over the phone and said he is the artist but does not have the business sense to communicate via e mail to get it done. I with that told him I was taking my business eleswhere and after 2 phone calls and 1 email I found another bakery that is thrilled to do it and already has given us the vision on the finished cake.
You can not put a price on good customer service and this place is truly lacking that, there are plenty of places that can do the same thing.

Hi,I live in California and phoned the bakery after seeing them on the Ultimate Cake Off thinking it would be a great place to do my granddaughters golden birthday cake. I spoke with Bob and told him what we wanted we were instructed to send e mail ideas and cost WAS NOT a factor. He had one of his people whom he also voiced lack of confidence in send an email back saying they do not get cake information via e mail. I called him back he remembered who I was and considering I live a few thousand miles away we could do this via internet until I arrive in the Chicago area. Needless to say he said he was not able to send it because he did not know how neither did his staff. I was willing to spend an unlimited budget and all he had was excuses. I really should have taken into consideration how he acted on the show excuses and pity me before I made the call. He should change his mission statement to " My Staff and Me The Business Prevention Department"

Provided by YP.comBased on the recommendation of Walter Payton's Roundhouse Restaurant, I ordered a birthday cake over the phone for delivery to Payton's. The lady at The Cakery was very helpful and had some great suggegestions for me. The Cakery delivered the cake to the restaurant in plenty of time for our dinner. The cake was beautiful and delicious and made my sister, the birthday girl, very happy. All in all, the experience was great and the cake was fantastic!
