Provided by YP.comI wouldn't recommend lifecare to anybody. My mother stayed there for about a week and the care she got was awful. She was on 24 hour oxygen and one morning when I went to visit her she was on the floor by her bed connected to no oxygen because her tube fell off of her face when she fell beside the bed. Not sure if she got up to use the restroom or not but her light was on outside of her door so I'm sure that's what happened.. She had urine all over the bottom of her nightgown. I talked to her and told her I was going to get help. I went down to the nurses station which was a short walk away from her room and asked them about the light being on if they could see it and they said yes. I asked why hasn't anybody been to her room to check and see what she needed. We are going to go down there in a minute. I said I hate to break up y'alls social hour and interfere with all of the KFC that y'all are eating but she needs help now because she is down beside her bed on the floor! I have no idea how long she had been without oxygen but she was talking about things that were going on in her life from 50 years ago. She offered to make me some coffee but not to be too loud because she had just put the baby down. I was in tears and stayed with her until she was checked out by a doctor and was making sense again. Her oxygen level was in the 70s. Don't take your loved ones there. Also the woman in the room with her must have been an alcholic because everyday her daughter would show up after dinner and she would make martinis for herself and her mother. Then even offered us one. I complained about the situation and they told me there was no other room available.. So they even allowed alcohol in there and did nothing about it. I have nothing good to say about this place Lifejoke of Charleston!

Provided by YP.comI will NEVER select a Life Care facility ever again after the way we were left so uninformed as to my mother's care, her prognosis, the intended expectations, and lapses in her care. We never had the opportunity to prepare for her impending death, or have a priest give her the last rites which were very important to my mother. When I expressed concern and wanted the truth about my mother's prognosis, we were ignored by the doctor only to have him telephone 9 PM at night after we returned home to tell us, "don't give up on her." This was less than 12 hours before her death. We could never get an appointment with any health care professional to go over my mother's treatment plan either. I have never experienced such a lack of sensitivity or honesty. My mother had CHF. After her release from the hospital, shecould not walk, had no appetite, could not go to the bathroom by herself, and needed assistance for simple activities such as dressing. Diapers were the norm and even lifting her arms was a huge struggle. Three times on visits to Life Care, I found her on reduced oxygen and her complaining, " I need air." I told the front desk of my concern only to find a repeat of the situation at another time. In hindsight, my mother needed hospice care, not rehab. Although it is true no one has a crystal ball to know when someone may die, doctors do have access to medical test results and patient presented situations and observations. Their insight is far more supported by their knowledge and the technology available to them. You can say, "well they are angry their mother passed." No, we are angry we got the brush off and were left at a loss of professional integrity and put in a terrible position of wondering what was even going on. That is a grave injustice to patients and family. I would not recommend Life Care for my dog, period. .
