Founded in 1936, the South Carolina Federal Credit Union offers a range of financial services, such as loans, credit cards, and savings and checking accounts for senior citizens, college students and children. It is one of the largest, nonprofit, federally chartered credit unions in the United States with more than $1 billion in assets and over 134,000 members. The credit union operates nearly 20 branches and approximately 50 ATMs throughout the Charleston, Columbia, Georgetown and St. Matthews area of South Carolina. The South Carolina Federal Credit Union s operations are monitored and enforced by the National Credit Union Administration and its shares are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund.
