The Atrium cares about keeping their rooms booked and about making money. They have the common problem of being understaffed so they have (in my opinion) lowered their standards of care and allowed under qualified people to fill the positions. We had a relative there and witnessed an unfortunate amount of frustration and unprofessionalism from what they call RCA's. They seem to be allowed to come and go as they please and use their cell phones in the private rooms. My relative told me that some of the aides shouldn't be allowed to work there. But she would not elaborate on what she meant because she was afraid of the aides getting into trouble and taking it out on her. I voiced my concerns to a wonderful male nurse there that seemed genuinely concerned and aware of the problem, but he said he could only pass along information to his superiors. Unfortunately I recently found out that they let him go. It is a shame that the one person that really cared for the residents at the Atrium was let go because he tried to stand up to what was against the Atrium supposed standard of care. If you're reading this I hope you keep standing up for what is right. We need more nurses like you.
