I have been trying for more than a week to get my physicians nurse to get the "authorization " NOT a referral, so my Insurance will cover the cost of seeing an Ophthomologist as "Medically Necessary". I have called at least once a day, talked with the various receptionists, who enter something in the computer, which is NOT what I asked for. To date, my Physician has been unavailable, not in the office, or arriving late. The nurse must get the Authorization from the Doctor,, which in turn must be submitted to the Insurance company for PreAuthorization, BEFORE going to the Specialist. How is this EVER going to happen if no one at PHG will even call me back? The waiting room is always crowded with sick and well visit patients all together sharing their illnesses. I was charged a co-pay for something that was Free in my plan and then the check was LOST somewhere between their office and where payments are processed! Fortunately I had a receipt showing the amount and check number. The erroneous Co-pay was eventually refunded by PHG. I LOVE my Primary Physician, but she is leaving the Practice in two weeks. I was not advised that "another doctor " would be taking over the patients temporarily, until someone is hired permanently . I did extensive research before choosing my Health Plan and Primary Care Physician . It is extremely disturbing to me to be passed along to someone new without even the basic courtesy that my doctor is leaving the practice. The practice has gotten TOO large to adequately handle the number of patients that it has. UGH!

I am a patient at PHG and have been since the 1990’s with this practice. If you are looking for a physician who will treat more than two problems no matter how severe… this is not the place for you. If you are in fear of getting sick in the waiting room …this is not the place for you. If you see one specific doctor and are loyal to them…this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a physician who is worried more about your health than about the new EMR (Electronic Medical Record System)..this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place that will not have you wait longer than a hospital visit….this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a physician who is dedicated to you as a patient…this is definitely not the place for you.
