Provided by SuperpagesThis place is pretty good with prices and everyone in the store is fairly friendly. I love this store. I just started school for my Master program at University of Richmond I needed a hole puncher to keep my homework organized. I went to my favorite store Foremost. I shop here everyday, I am a regular customer. I told my friends and professors at University of Richmond about Foremost and they thanked me for telling them about the store.
However, I had a bad experience today. I saw a hole puncher that was a great fit!! It had a sticker on the box that said $15, I was so happy that I would be able to get a quality hole puncher at a reasonable price. I needed a pencil sharpener as well so I got a great price on that as well. I went through the check out line and paid for these two items.
I didn't pay attention to the price but I had a gut feeling that something was wrong, I looked down at my receipt and I saw that the hole puncher rung up for $35. I worked in retail before so I thought that someone just did not put the item into the system when they got marked down.
When I got to the customer service desk, there was a Caucasian man in front of me and the customer service lady named Tina was very nice to him, she took her time with him and made sure that he had everything that he needed. When he was finished, and he left, she paused for a moment and just looked at me, now today I was not looking my best, I am an African American woman with dread locks and I just came from the gym so I may have not looked a pretty sight to the eye, lol.
So, she looked at me and gave me body language as if she didn't want to help me. But, she said very low, "Can I help you", I said, "Yes ma'am, thanks", I was erroneously charged $35 for this hole puncher, the sticker clearly says, "$15", so, I would like a refund of the extra $15. She scanned the box and it rung up $35 in the system. She said in a firm undertone " It is ringing up for $35 and I'm not changing it, do you want me to give you your money back?" At this time I am shocked at the way she just spoke to a customer in that manner, she did not show any empathy or did not even say I apologize for the inconvenience. It was straight " I'm not going to give this to you for "$15. I told her that this was false advertisement. A customer expects to pay what sticker you have on the product, it is not the problem of the customer to research why this happened. Her tone was really rude, and she was very unprofessional. I asked to speak with her manager she said she did not have a manager, she said she was the manager, this was very disrespectful to her boss, for her to act as if there is no one over her. I told her, there is someone that she reports to, she did not want to tell me, she didn't say nothing. I asked one of the associates at the store and they said "You have to ask her" then I asked Tina again and she said, "David", and I asked her who was over him, she said, "Tony". I asked her was there a corporate number, she said no, just the store number. I said ok.
I love this store but, this is very disturbing to me that there is not a corporate number to contact someone. It is not the price that is a problem, it is now the principle of the poor customer service I received from Tina. So often we do have rough times that we are going through and I get that every day is not great but, don't take your personal frustrations out on a customer. I would suggest she get re-education on customer service skills and how to show empathy. She probably has been in that same position for years and had become stagnant.
