Established in 1993 through the Community Punishment Act of Arkansas legislature, the Arkansas Department of Community Correction is responsible for the management of all community punishment facilities and services. It also executes the orders of the criminal courts of the state of Arkansas and means of supervision, including probation and parole and any other types of post supervision releases. The department provides services for the treatment, rehabilitation and restoration of adult offenders as useful law-abiding citizens within the community. With an office in Little Rock, Ark., the Arkansas Department of Community Correction operates various day reporting centers that offer comprehensive, nonresidential programs designed to promote public safety and provide offender accountability and control through intense supervision and surveillance. The centers also facilitate offender rehabilitation through behavior modification, substance abuse counseling and education, as well as develop employment skills.
