Taber Industries

Throughout its history, the Taber name has been associated with Quality and Reliability. Our products continue to be considered the standard for comparison in many industries. Originally founded in 1941 by Ralph Taber, the Taber Instrument Corporation was established to manufacture materials testing instruments. As lead engineer, Mr. Taber invented numerous testing instruments that aided in the understanding of material physical properties. Many of the original product concepts were so innovative they are still widely used today. In 1955, Taber's product line was expanded with the acquisition of bonded foil strain gage pressure transducers from Frederick Flader - former chief engineer of the Curtis Wright Aircraft Company. The primary focus of Taber pressure transducers was on critical pressure measurement applications. In 1965, Taber incorporated a 5V amplifier module in a pressure transducer for use on the initial Apollo Space Craft. The use of high reliability electronic components was initiated in 1985 for the Naval Research Labs in conjunction with the launching of satellites from the Space Shuttle. We continue this tradition as Taber now supplies life support and flight hardware in Space, Aviation and Military Vehicle applications.Low tonnage mechanical stamping presses were added to the product offering when Kenco Presses was purchased 1967. Designed for applications requiring 3 to 20 tons of force, these presses proved to be so well engineered and recognized that Taber continues to manufacture them under the original trade name 'Kenco'.The Taber Instrument Corporation was acquired by the Teledyne organization in 1966, when it became Teledyne Taber. In August 1992, Teledyne sold the assets of Teledyne Taber to Kenneth L. Slawson and the company name was changed to Taber Industries. In June 2003, Daniel K. Slawson became the Company's President. Kenneth L. Slawson now serves as Taber's Chairman and CEO.Taber Industries operates today with the same principles that Ralph Taber started this company with - meeting customer needs. With over sixty years of successes, we continue to invest in advanced technologies and manufacturing processes. With an in-house machine shop, dedicated design and manufacturing engineers, specialized mechanical and electronic manufacturing assembly departments, along with test facilities, Taber Industries is 100% vertically integrated.
