Operational since 1962, Pioneer Valley Planning Commission has been the designated regional planning body for the Pioneer Valley region. It handles an array of activities, such as community/economic development, transportation, environment/land use, GIS (geographic information systems)/graphics, regional information/policy center and local technical assistance. Pioneer Valley Planning Commission is an affiliate of American Planning Association (APA), MA Association of Regional Planning Agencies (MARPA), National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) and New England Association of Regional Councils (NEARC).
