Northport Middle School enrolls more than 850 students annually in grades six through eight. Its curriculum includes classes in English, math, science and social studies. The school operates drug and alcohol task force, newspaper, yearbook, tech crew and photo clubs, as well as a student council. It provides several extracurricular activities that include band and choral. The school also offers membership opportunities for the National Junior Honor Society. Northport Middle School provides a variety of sports activities, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, hockey, golf, tennis, softball and baseball. The school supports Project Excel and accelerated reader programs. Northport Middle School maintains a library that houses various educational books and resources. The school has a parent-teacher-student association that funds several activities and events. It is governed by the Northport-East Northport School District.
