As a 15+ year National Emerald/Executive member the Muskegon Airport experience was absurd. First, the morning of my pick-up, I received a phone message indicating no cars were available after I had made the RSVP the night before, advising me to pick up at another "local facility" with no means of transportation. I was coming into "THE AIRPORT" ~Hello~. Once I arrived, and waited 30 minutes before the counter actually opened, I was told a $250 hold+rental fee would be added and when questioned the charge, Mr. Shakir Edwards, Assist Mgr. indicated this practice takes place across ALL MICHIGAN National Car Rental facilities, for local renters. I tried to explain to him that was NOT true, and especially for business travels, who in my case, planned to visit several cities with multiple rentals, that week, and I reside part year, in 2 states. Fortunately, National Car Rental Grand Rapids office, 30 minutes away, who was accustomed to handling Emerald/Executive customers saved the day, and we completed the rental process within the normal 5/10 minute (or less) process. Lessons Learned, AVOID Muskegon and definitely the National Car Rental Norton Shores (Muskegon Airport) Michigan location.
