Chartered and incorporated in 1919 as a patriotic veteran's organization, The American Legion is one of the largest veteran's service organizations in the United States. Based in Norwalk, Calif., the organization focuses in offering services to veterans, service members and communities. The American Legion has around 2.4 million members in 14,000 posts organized into 55 departments around the world. The organization has founded many programs for children and youth, including American Legion Baseball and Boys Nation.
