Originally known as Norwalk Iron Works, Norwalk Compressor Company had been located in South Norwalk, Conn., since 1864. In 2005, Norwalk relocated its operations to Stratford, Conn., and changed its name to Norwalk Compressor Company. Since its first patent in January 1876, Norwalk has designed, manufactured and serviced its own positive displacement reciprocating gas compressors. The company has also made many significant contributions to the advancement of compressor technology, such as a patent for the world s first multi-stage compressor in July 1881.
