FREE DANCE LESSONS

A one hour dance lesson is given at each meeting on Friday Nitghts from 7pm to 8pm.  The class always starts with beginner steps.  The instructor then coaches each member to help them improve at their level of learning.

ATTIRE

The attire is casual.  However, dance shoes are a must.  Rubber soled shoes cause back and knee pain therefore they will be discouraged.  The best shoes are those with leather soles.  Sneakers are definitely not the right shoes to wear to the dance meetings.

CLUB FORMAT

Club meetings are spontaneous.   We like to accommodate to people’s preferences for dance lessons and practice music.  Therefore, it is not uncommon for us to change the lesson plan the day of the meeting. COSTWe don’t have a membership fee.  Members contribute $5. per person when they come to meetings.  This fund help us cover the cost of facility, materials, marketing and maintenance of the ballroom.

BIG BAND DANCE

On the third Friday of each month, the Dance Club holds a private party for members.  The event costs $10. Per person to pay the band.  The Ballroom is filled with the big band sounds of the Chenangoans, a twelve piece professional band. Couples dress up, they bring their favorite drinks and snacks and they enjoy two hours of spectacular music that includes Foxtrot, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Swing, Polka, Mambo and many other ballroom favorites. Each dance has a theme and our members go out of their way to wear fun and beautiful theme costumes.  However, if you are not into theme attire, casual-dress attire is appropriate and welcome. During the band break, we play music with some of the Latin dances we have learned.  The elegant atmosphere takes you back to the golden years.   No reservations are required.  Admission is $10. Per person at the door.
