Casitas Municipal Water District, formed in 1952, supplies water to more than 60,000 people in Western Ventura County and to farms in Oak View, Calif. The district boundaries encompass the city of Ojai, Upper Ojai, the Ventura River Valley area, the city of Ventura to Mills Road, and the Rincon and beach area to the ocean and Santa Barbara County line. Its Lake Casitas Recreation area is a popular destination site with more than 750,000 visitors each year. The district has an extensive monitoring program that includes compliance monitoring, supplemental monitoring and lake management. Its compliance monitoring program meets the requirements set by state and federal regulators. Additionally, Casitas Municipal Water District provides state-approved curriculum that teaches students about water conservation.
