The Dickey Historical Society in Oakes, ND offers both a 3- story heritage center and a historical park that includes an early 1900’s Soo Line caboose, Bear Creek Climax schoolhouse, and a Methodist church and a Soo Line train depot. The heritage center exhibits include the Julia Dahlbeck handmade Inaugural Ball gowns of the first ladies dating back to Martha Washington’s gown in 1789 to Lady Bird Johnson in 1963. In addition, the Genevieve Baker electrical biblical lamps, a working loom, 1950’s Western Bell Telephone station, a complete 1880’s dental office, doctor’s office, military history room, 1900’s prairie kitchen, local Boy and Girl Scout uniforms, history of local folks and much more!
