Escuela Bilingüe Internacional (EBI) is an independent PreK-8 school offering a multilingual, international education that inspires our students to engage with a changing global world. EBI is the only Spanish/English bilingual IB school in Northern California. EBI has two campuses with 381 students from Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco, El Cerrito, Albany, Walnut Creek and the surrounding areas. Our PK-1st students attend classes at our Alcatraz Campus in Oakland.The pre-kinder program at EBI is where the love for learning begins! Using a positive approach to learning through play, our pre-kinder classes introduce our youngest students to the school environment and give them a solid foundation for learning many important life skills.

I have 2 children at EBI and we’ve been there almost 3 years. One of our kids came in knowing some Spanish (from another preschool) and one did not. Both of them have had truly wonderful experiences. All of their teachers throughout the 3 years have been gems - engaging, supportive, and skilled as educators. Every time I connect with them, it’s clear how well my children are known and seen and they’re always extremely responsive to our reach outs. We’ve also very much appreciated the strong community of families. We’ve found them to be consistently warm, welcoming, and down to earth, and we love how the diversity of experiences and backgrounds at the school is celebrated. I couldn’t recommend EBI more highly. Although we chose it for the Spanish opportunity, in reality Spanish has really just been the cherry on top of our overall experience.

My two children go to EBI (rising 2nd and 4th graders) and we've been at the school for five years now. It has been a wonderful experience and far exceeded our expectations. What I have come to love most about the school is the excellent quality of the teachers, who are the lifeblood of the school, are from numerous different countries, and are dedicated, warm and caring. My children are perfectly bilingual and are thriving in the EBI environment, academically, socially, and emotionally. The curriculum and teachers foster a love of learning, curiosity about the world around, and critical thinking in the students. The school community is highly diverse, tight knit and active. I highly recommend this independent school.
