Cox Miscommunication

Moving into a new place and I found out I owed a bill of $192 from 6 years ago. I went to pay it and was given the option to pay half now and have the other half billed. So I paid two-thirds. I asked all the right questions, inquired about the deposit, hidden fees, rental fees, taxes, etc. To my surprise I had no deposit. I was told to hook up the modem and call a toll free number to have service activated. I did that but calling sent me in circles, after going round and round, I was told I needed to go to collections to pay my balance in full. The CSR advised me of the amount I paid but collections couldn't find it. After all the transferring and calls disconnecting I patiently waited to see if collections could verify my payment. They verified it and added more money and a deposit. I called the store to speak to the representative I worked with and you can never get them on the phone. Instead you get transferred to call centers or if you find a local number it asks you to hold for an operator and hangs up on you. Customer service explained that the store reps have to assist face-to-face customers and don't have time to answer calls. I also found out that after the note was placed on my account of the payment agreement, someone placed another note on the account the day after to have my balance paid in full. But no one called. The sad part is that I had the money to pay it in the store. But it seems that it was more important to sell false hopes of no deposit when I asked the questions straight up so I can know what I'm spending. I don't need to be tricked into paying things.

WORST MISTAKE

The worst mistake I've done in business was to subscribe to COX Communications. There equiptment has gone down more often than I care to remember. They shut off my service by mistake and for this I submitt this review.
