Provided by YP.comWe have been rafting with AU for over 20 years. We have used other companies on other rivers and have seen that with out question AU does a great job. I would not raft with another company on the river.

Provided by YP.comWell, I will start by saying I went once before and had a great time. That being said, I was expecting another great time. My boyfriend and I were excited about going. The trip started out okay. We chose the Full Ocoee which takes a good part of the day (about 5 hours). We had 7 people in our raft, which didn't make much sense to me since another raft only had 4. I think we would have not go stuck on so many rocks if they had spaced us out better.
We got our equipment and got on the bus. Once we arrived at the location, they unloaded the rafts. It was at this point I saw one guide smoking something and pass it to our guide.
So we started out on the upper Ocoee and had a good time. After stopping for lunch we got back in the raft and shortly after got to the dam where you have to take the raft out and carry it down a ramp. This would be the middle Ocoee. So, we put the raft in and immediately got stuck on another rock. We were stuck there for at least ten minutes, with our guide trying to get us free from the rock. He had us moving from one side to another, then had one of the guys get out on the rock with him. We started to clear the rock and then my boyfriend and fell out of the raft due to on surge of water, with the next four people following. I thought we were going to drown and got really banged up. We hit pretty much every rock possible on the "out of boat experience", and the guides are yelling at you to try and swim, but the current is too strong. I kept getting pulled under and then I would come up and try and breathe, only to get a giant mouthful of river water. Luckily the two of us manages to stay pretty close together, and he still had his paddle, so I was able to grab onto that, and then another guide threw us a rope. But even that was hard to hold onto, it felt like it was going to cut my hand (imagine a rough game of tug o war).
I guess I should be happy that we didn't drown or that we didn't have broken bones, but he has 2 bruises that are about 5 inches across and some bad scrapes on his arms and legs; and I had 2 swollen knees, scrapes up and down my legs, a 3 inch knot on my elbow, and some deep bruises on my lower back. Neither of us bleed too much, but he needed a few band aids. Some of the others were bleeding worse than us, and got pretty beat up as well. We decided to continue with the trip even though 2 of us lost our paddles when we were thrown from the boat. I was so shook up that every time we came to a rapid, I hit the deck.
I am really sad to say that this experience rafting will be the last one. And that is too bad, because I had so much fun the first time.
