Jose Pepper was born the seventh son of his father, a Tijuana physician, and his mother, the finest and most revered cook south of the Rio Grande. Jose grew up in his mother s kitchen witnessing the sights and smells of Mexican specialty cooking. As the seventh son of a seventh son, unusual circumstances had often influenced Jose s life. In May 1988, Jose Pepper's Border Grill and Cantina in Kansas City. The restaurant offered fresh and authentic Mexican food paired with quality service. Jose Pepper's Grill and its companion restaurant, the Cactus Grill, continue to grow throughout the Kansas City area. Jose Pepper's Grill has a location in Olathe, Kan.
