Alperin began with one sewing plant employing 50 people. The company grew to include locations in northeastern Pennsylvania in cities such as Old Forge as well as a sales force in New York, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. It also includes independent sales representatives throughout the United States. The company manufactures trousers for men and boys, casual slacks and uniforms. Alperin derives some of its revenues as a garment contractor, supplying product to other manufacturers, but an increasing percentage of the firm's sewing capacity has become devoted to providing products for its own merchandising divisions, which supplies the retail market. Louis Alperin founded Alperin in 1946.
