Bud Bay

View very nice.... food awful! I had the Flank Steak, it was over cooked and the glaze was awful. No salad with the meal, and my side dish I thought was suppose to be garlic mashed. I couldn't tell you what it was, except awful. Thank goodness for the bread or I would have left hungry.

Great food and Service

I recently dined at The Budd Bay Cafe and had such a fabulous experience I had to share it. We started with crusted Ahi with a wasabi creme that was fantastic. We also had a wonderful viognier to compliment it. We then moved on to fresh Salmon for myself and my husband had a New York steak. We each had another glass of wine from their extensive glass pours. He said it was the best steak he has had in Olympia. My salmon was perfect and better yet was the service. The staff was so friendly and efficient, even the blonde female manager stopped by to check on us. You can tell where the staff get's their great attitudes. Just go there. We plan on returning again and again.

The customer is always right.....unless I'm the customer.

We went one summer evening and ordered a "seafood feast" which was not as much food as we thought for the price. Oh well...but when I told the waitress that the salmon AND halibut were exceedingly dry, she took my plate to a manager of some kind because a lot of people had complained. The "manager" would only redo one of the fish. Then she never brought our halibut back so we could at least choke it down with tarter sauce. Not sure why this restaurant is "award winning". I found the food to be quite dull. Perhaps if our service had been better, I would have been willing to try it again. I would rather drive all the way to Ivars in Seattle. (The one star is because our waitress was sweet and friendly.)

Breakfast Time

Not only great dinners but great breakfasts. It was nice to see a restaraunt that I could find on this site that served breakfast. No one else serves breakfast.

Enjoy the view with a walk or take out from someplace else.

The view is fantastic. Considering that the prices are high end, the food was boring and heavy at best. Service wasn't good either. We had to ask for silverware, an extra plate, and a glass without lipstick marks but didn't have the chance until 15 minutes after our appetizer was served. Not worth the price for the view. Unfortunate as it could have been a superb experience given the location.

Great seafood, scenic setting

This casual restaurant & bar offers great fresh fish in a nice, waterfront setting. A little on the spendy side, but you're paying for the view. Always seems to be busy so be prepared to wait (it's worth it).

Good for everyday dining

Excellent atmosphere, casual yet has a sense of elegence. Very good wine - not overpriced. Food somewhat overpriced since it is not gormet. Menu a bit predictable and entrees contain vegetables which are precooked frozen foods. I continue to patron but know what to expect.
