Provided by YP.comI went into the ER with abdominal pain, barely able to get myself to the ER, shaking, crying. After 8 hours in the ER I was discharged. The whole time I never saw a doctor and I don't think an RN either. Someone came in pushed on my stomach. I was told to do a urine sample but there were no urine sample bottles available. No one ever again mentioned taking a sample. Someone took a blood sample for testing, although I was never told what they discovered from them. I called to find out three weeks later only to be told they wouldn't give me that information and then hung up on me.
When I was discharged someone came in and told me I could go and handed me a prescription. I asked for what and they said well, you have a sinus infection and bladder infection and mono. I was so sick it never occurred to me that they never did the urine sample to find out if I really did have a bladder infection and I don't know how they could have diagnosed it. Since they never looked up my nose or throat, nor did an X-Ray, I don't know how they came up with that either. They did give me something for the pain while I was there but after explaining to them that I couldn't take a certain type of medicine because of a recent surgery, they gave me exactly that one, I didn't realize it until later when discussing the continued pain in the stomach with my surgeon. At which time they became very concerned because that medicine could have actually done permanent damage to my stomach.
Bottom line, after that diagnosis, I had to leave college for at least 3 weeks because of the diagnosis of mono. After telling the doctors at Good Samaritan Hospital this story they did blood tests of their own. After 3 weeks of lost school and possibly failing the classes at a private college ($$$$$$$). Guess what, I never had mono. I never had to go home. I never had to miss those classes. And bottom line I wouldn't have to pay to take those classes again. Being scared to death I might somehow spread a contagious disease I never really had.
