Never Again

I recently moved to Omaha from out of state and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Lawlor at PCP for today. When I arrived and began to fill out paperwork, the secretary said that it looked like my driver's license had expired. I politely told the lady that it expires in 2015. She was unconvinced and told me that it looked like 2013, I again admitted that the numbers had been rubbed a bit, but that I was sure it expired in 2015. Her response was that the doctor would not be able to see me because the license was not valid. I am unsure what about me made this woman think that I would lie about the date on my license. And I am even more unsure how an expired license, alone, would prevent them from giving me care when my insurance card was presented. My suspicion is that either my race or my sexual orientation is the real reason why I was turned away. I will not return and do not encourage any others who are looking for a respectable doctor's office to do so either.

Poor office Policy

Many years ago, I used Primary Care Physicians since through my teenage years up until the time I got married (26 years old) at which time I started seeing a different doctor. This doctor is not with Primary Care Physicians and is EXCELLENT. Recently, I have moved to the other side of town and my current doctor has cut back his hours as part of a promotion within the Alegent Health system. Obviously it was time to start looking for another doctor. I figured I would check back with Primary Care Physicians and see one of their doctors again. Well when I tried to make an appointment I was denied. I was told that they would not see me because a bill went to collection back in 2005 (yes, 7 years ago) and they have a policy where they will not see patients that have gone to collection. I find it amazing that there were no question to see if I was employed, insured or even a cash only/credit cart policy for any visits. I was silent or a moment and felt quite embarrassed. Just to confirm what I heard i said, "So you will not let me see any of your doctors?” She confirmed this by sayin, “That is correct, we have a policy where we will not see patients whose accounts have gone to collection.” She said I could talk to the office manager if I wanted to but I declined. I told her, "Back in 2005 I lost my job, was being divorced, lost everything and filed bankruptcy, you have your policies and they suck." I did not even give her a chance to reply and hung up the phone. I was not going to beg for services from an office that has poor policies in place. I could understand if I was consistently neglecting a balance that I have been carrying for several months, but to tell someone you are not allowed to see a doctor because of an account that went to collection 7 YEARS AGO seems extremely lame brained. Through the years, since my bankruptcy, I have proven myself to be fiscally responsible and very creditworthy. My credit score has gone from the mid 500’s to 730.

Not Compassionate

My Dr did not help me after asking several times. I have a fear of going to the Dr and she didn't care. She told me to exercise before and apt, this is insulting, I could run laps around every person in that office, exercise is part of my daily life it's not going to help with a panic attack. The way that she disregarded my feelings solidified how I feel toward Drs in general. I will not be back, I would like to tell her why but I'm completely positive that she won't care anyway.

Medical Ethical Code

The family physicians in this clinic are okay. The office procedures are very bad. Service waiting time is extremely inaccurate. The Billing department Manager is ruthless and very non-service oriented. He major concern is not the patient and how can they help, but collection. After 35 years of using this facility and a perfect payment history we were told that they no longer would provide service as we owed $209.00 on an ongoing insurance claim, they wanted their money now or would stop the medical service unless paid. That kind of tells you that money is more important in this facility than the care of the patient, which at times was not that effective and speedy.
