It all began in 1993, when two local boys in Gulf Shores, Alabama decided to open up a casual family-focused seafood restaurant on the Gulf Coast. The idea was to create a restaurant where people would feel welcome to be themselves, families could afford to dine out together and strangers would leave as friends. Coastal vacationers demanded that Shrimp Basket expand to provide this incredible seafood value to those unable to be at the beach year round. Today, weĆ¢??re happy to offer locations across the Southeast for family and friends to feel a part of the beach, dine and enjoy delicious seafood! At the Shrimp Basket, our goal is to make sure that you - our friends - leave happy and satisfied after every visit.

I live in Orange Beach and have eaten at this and other Shrimp Baskets that are scattered about the area before. When you eat at a Shrimp Basket restaurant, you can expect mediocre food, a semi-clean environment, and lackluster service. I have returned because of the reasonable prices.

Today I ate at the OBA location and it was the worst experience yet and will also be the last. During the busy summer months, the chain hires on young servers with little to no experience and turns them loose on the tourists. Our server today, Marina G. is the poster child for this phenomenon. We were met with a blank expression and vacant eyes. This child wanted to be anywhere else in the world other than where she was at. She didn't know the menu and had the personality of a banana slug.

I asked her a question about the tab and got the idiot treatment. I asked for the manager and was sent a twelve year old named Cameron. He disappeared and never came back with an answer. What do you do? You cash out, leave a good tip and never return. You can also steer your friends and family away and post a review...

The Shrimp Basket started out with one restaurant, it was outstanding. The owner began to open more and more locations and it has morphed into just another average place to eat. There are much better options. Tourists feed this restaurant; but locals keep it alive during the off season. This restaurant lost more than one customer today.

Seafood anyway you like it. Very casual. Service was quick and friendly. Raw oysters were cold and delicious.

Terrible Service

Waited for 10 minutes and nobody even took drink order. Tracked down waitress and still nothing. Left and no one seemed to care. Do not waste your time here.

Best Coconut Shrimp I have ever had! My review is soley based on this dish. I try to visit the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area at least once a year and this restaurant is always on my list of places to eat. Their coconut shrimp is absolutely amazing and the dipping sauce is incredible. There really is not any way to describe the wonderful flavor that explodes on your taste buds when you take a bite of this shrimp. I would suggest anyone in the area to give it a try!
