Once upon a time, you could take your items of value into the pawn shop to get a cash loan. The deal was that you made interest payments of 25% (quite high, but the for the service..) and could pay 'extra' to slowly bring down your principle payment;thus lowering your monthly payment. As of recently, you can no longer make payments towards your principle, but interest only. How does this allow you to pay off your debt? IT DOESN'T. Per the manager,"You just have to make your monthly interest payments, and save up the (original) loan amount on your own until you can pay it off in full." That would be like GMC telling their customers that they have to pay interest only on a vehicle until they can afford to pay the $30,000+ up front. NO ONE does that, and that is NOT what was going on when the loan was originally taken. You can't just change something and: 1. Not inform your new or old customers 2. Cause irreparable harm, and again without notice. 3. That wasn't not in the original agreement in the first place!



This all happened because of a new computer system the shop brought in. In order for a customer to make a payment towards their principle, the employees (and manager) would have to re-write your loan. After having several discussions with the manager, he has said that, "It's just too much of a hassle to do each time." And so the company will not allow you to make principle payments on top of your interest any longer.



This HAS to be illegal in some manner. This needs to be righted, or they will soon find themselves in court.
