Our mission & philosophy is to provide a dynamic environment where educators purposefully engage with learners in direct experience and focused reflection in order to increase knowledge, develop skills, clarify values, and develop student’s capacity to contribute to his or her communities. Almondale’s serene country-side setting supports our dynamic experiential approach which includes: project and virtue-based education, outdoor and environmental learning, expeditionary and service learning in multi-age classrooms. Students receive support or accelerated coursework according to their pretested needs and/or talents. The virtues focused on for the 2017-2018 school year are: self-discipline, generosity, empathy, creativity humility, and integrity. The theme of our summer program is wilderness survival. Each week a skill is focused on that culminates with a field trip on Fridays. We also have an individualized academic program in the morning, survival skill lesson, with activities in the afternoon: martial arts, dance, baking, swimming, and library visits. We welcome visitors!
