Provided by YP.comWell, I never had any doctor make me feel like a sheeple until now! I just got off the phone a little while ago with Dr. Callie Enyart.
While she is a nice person, her inability to explain HOW her tonomgrapy machine for measuring pressure worked (the one with the probe) , sent up a red flag.
IMO, IF a doctor does NOT know how to explain the machine they are using (and tells you to look it up online, good thing I have a computer!), then my question is... WHY should I trust that doctor to use it, especially where my vision is concerned (well any part of my body for that matter)?
Sure it is new... so were the drops they used early on, which now they found out can cause glaucoma, the very thing the drops were designed to detect. PLENTY of research out there now on that, and by qualified people too.
In addition, she says she is holistic, which was the sole reason I was interested in her in the first place.
However, she did push the chemical drops,
BEFORE she got the new machine recently. To me, this is NOT a holistic doctor, as the ones I have had experience with would NOT go along with chemicals in the eyes OR body..
I was not impressed. So it is for THOSE reasons, I cancelled my appointment, and found a doctor that does the air puff. That IS
natural, and I would much rather have
natural air being used, rather than some probe.
The probe is mechanical, and you are relying on a mechanical device. While the air puff machine is mechanical, it is only using a puff
of air, and not a probe that comes out, relying
on the sensor to perform, so it does not touch they eye more than it should, which imho could blind a person, if the sensor/s fail. It is not worth my risk.
Perhaps in a few years, I will change my mind, but until then... no drops, no probes, only air for this gal! But I doubt it, as you STILL have to rely on the people that calibrate and make sure that it is working accurately.
You don't have to be a doctor to use COMMON sense. Good luck in your hunting for the right doctor.
She may be right for you, but definitely not
right for me. I don't BAAAAAA!
