Dr. Simmonds is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and Florida State College of Medicine and was recently awarded the Excellence in Surgical Education Award from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. He has been a member of the General Surgery faculty at Florida Hospital since his initial recruitment and currently is the Site Director for all 3rd and 4th year medical students. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in 1999. Following, Dr. Simmonds completed his internship and surgical training residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. As a leader in the battle to eradicate health disparities, Dr Simmonds provides a clinically sound, economically prudent and culturally sensitive approach to the provision of care in special populations. Understandably, Dr. Simmonds is a sought after expert and public speaker who lends his voice to reshape health care and realized positive patient outcomes.
