Provided by YP.comI ordered a smoked turkey from Osseo Meats and entered the store for the first time today (Saturday, 12/23/2017). The store was packed; they were on number 67 out of 100, and I had number 4. I waited about 20 minutes and started wandering through the store looking at their products. After 20 minutes, they finally put up a sign and opened a register for those who were picking up pre-orders. While walking to the counter I noticed a statue of a Black lawn jockey. Being African American I was offended. Enslaved Blacks were used as jockeys before the end of the American Slave System, because they didn’t have to pay them; once money entered the game, Black jockeys were not hired unless they were working as sharecroppers and again, the owners took all of the earned money won in races. I noticed that no Black customers entered the market; one Latino entered just before I left. While paying for the turkey, I told the female cashier that I found the I found the jockey slave statue offensive. She belligerently snapped back, “It’s a part of history and hopefully we don’t repeat it.” She then asked if I wanted to talk to the owner. I replied that slavery is a part of history, but that doesn’t make it right. I was trying to talk with a low voice to not cause a scene. She scornfully shouted; “Do you want the turkey or not?” I took it, because I had waited so long, but I will never go back to Osseo market and I recommend Black people to stay away. The confederate mentality is not just in the southern states, it’s all over. These people refuse to let go of their antebellum symbols, no matter how offensive others find them. I have to give Germany credit for not allowing nazi memorabilia to be displayed publicly, when will White Supremacist Americans learn?

Provided by YP.comThis was my first visit to this wonderful establishment, and I am totally happy and satisfied with my purchases. The store's ambiance and the courteous attentiveness of the staff was quite impressive. The huge selection of products and overall cleanliness of the store will have me returning for many years to come.

Provided by YP.comThe Jackweed below is obviously crazy... calling FOUR times to confirm something. Then, asking a 5th time? If you are that crazy about your meat, and are that crazy about where it went, what it ate for lunch the week prior to dying, or what kind of barn it grew up in, whether it's a democrat or Republican... start your own Farm so you're absolutely sure.
now - we just moved our business into the area, and heard about this spot from some of the employees. The meat selection is second to none. They are stock piled with just about anything you fancy! Extremely delicious. They also have lunch specials!

Provided by YP.comSo, So disappointed. I LOVE Osseo Meat Market. I love the people there, I love the prices. I have been going there for the last 6 months or so. Why am I rating it so low? Well, they misled me (on accident) into thinking that their meat is truly grass-fed. On 4 different occasions I spoke with them over the phone or in person to confirm that indeed it was grass-fed meat, and they ademently (sp?) told me that it was. I called and spoke with the manager today and he told me that he checked with his butchers and that they had given me the wrong information. Very misleading. It wasn't purposeful, but when I told them that they are butchers and they're supposed to know their meat, the manager told me that he's been going to the dr. for 2 and a half years and the dr. can't tell him what's wrong with him... Not a great analogy on his part, but he did apologize.... by the way.... probably what's wrong with him is that he's eating too much grain-fed beef. So, so sad. Will not return. I recommended them to SO many people that now I have to go back to them and tell them that they're not. For people that don't eat for just the taste of it, but eat for the health benefits, this is disappointing. Their meat tastes great, and I have no complaints about the store, but they need to know their meat a little better.

Provided by YP.comThis butcher shop is a treasure to all those who know about it! It's jammed packed with unique antiques to look at and antique rides for the kids to play on. This is a family owned shop and the staff obviously gets treated very well because they are always in a good mood and eager to help with any questions about your selection. I've been to many butcher shops in MN I would go as far to say that this is the BEST in MN, Mike Gerberding, Champlin.
