Dr. sent me home for contact fitting with wrong power. I came back into the office to pick up new ones and they are still wrong! She also tried way too hard to sell me contact lenses even though it was more expensive. She also tried to charge me more at check out hoping I didn't catch it. She couldn't do math and was shaking while using a calculator. My glasses prescription is valid for 3 years and that's only because "Dr. had a long day and mistyped" or "computer glitch" and she didn't care.

Really Nice and Good Optometrist in OP

I did some comparison shopping before I went in, and the basic exam for glasses cost me $20 less here than 'the going rate' elsewhere - even Walmart or Sam's. It has easy access, right outside Penney's at Oak Park Mall.

Once there, I was offered the chance to buy, or not buy, some additional tests for glaucoma and macular degeneration, for $14 ea. I chose the one I had NOT had recently - periferal vision. Still, I was warned, for the first time ever, that I had the beginning of cataracts forming and needed UV protection to prevent it from progressing more rapidly than it would without. So, she found that cataract without the specific dilation test and reassured me that it would be 10 years or so before it would be a serious problem, needing surgery or whatever is available in 10 years.

She was courteous, quick and I really felt confident that she had checked me thoroughly and I knew had to protect my eyes going forward. She didn't try to talk me into anything I didn't want - like bi-focals (I just remove my glasses to read).

I was really please that I got in on short notice. I did wait a little while because the patient ahead of me seemed to have a lot of questions.

Here's the rub - the doctors' front office help mispelled my name - first and last, when swiping my card. Dr. Gupta corrected that for me before wiriting the prescription. Checking my accounts today, I find that I was billed twice - once under each name. I have a call in, and expect that all will be resolved. But I was really NOT impressed with the young lady who mangled my name so badly - and it's a common name!
