Nearly every year on my birthday, I'm treated to my favorite food.... JAPANESE! I love the "show" (provided you get a chef that still cares to amuse & amaze those sitting around the table), not to mention, I'm seldom disappointed with the mix of people who are also sitting at the table, even though you most often don't know them. Without my being asked my opinion of certain places I've previously dined at & knew I'd NEVER eat at again (ummmm, given the opportunity.....Like GoJo's, who still seem to think or not care that a potatoe can NOT be cooked on a hibachi, nor, on their combo platters do they cook steak to order...It's always well done & not "well done" as in done well....my old boots would probably be more tender & tasty!), my sweet man asked his uninformed 19 yr old daughter where to go & sure enough, SHE told him GoJo's was "great...." Hmmmmm.... By my second birthday, HE had found Nikko's & it's my #1, hands down, without a doubt favorite Japanese restaurant! Nikko's may be a tiny bit more expensive than most other Japanese restaurants that I'vè eaten at, but for special occasions, I think it's worth it. We did, however, have a few complaints... They told us if we arrived late for our reservations we would not be seated, only to have to wait approx 45 minutes in the bar before we could be seated. My gentleman friend had them fax him their menu the day he made reservations & from that moment until we were seated, he had pre-decided that he was ordering their two lobster tails for dinner -- which they did not have that night when we showed up for dinner. It also took a ridiculously long time for our bill to be brought to us at the end of the meal & for them to close out our tab.
