The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport is an independent public airport governed by a ten member Board of Directors composed of private citizens. The Board is primarily responsible for: The airport serves a large portion of mid-western Kentucky and southern Indiana by providing the residents of this region access to the national air transportation system. As such, this airport is an integral and dynamic element in the welfare of the region. The Board pursues its objectives by employing a professional staff, and by working closely with the traveling public, various levels of government, the airlines and a variety of other groups whose goals are to serve the best interests of the community at large. The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport Board, a body politic and corporate, was established at a joint meeting of the City of Owensboro Commissioners and Daviess County Commisioners on April 29, 1948, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 183, Section of the Kentucky Revised Statutes. It was organized for and has its purpose to establish, maintain, operate and expand airport and air navigation facilities either acquired by or placed under the control of the Board as provided by Federal law and Kentucky law, and to promote and develop aviation. As used in Airport policies, rules and regulations, contracts, schedules of rates and fees, and other official documents, the term "Board" or "Airport Board" will mean the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport Board.
