Provided by YP.comFriday was my first time visiting AmStar in Oxford, AL, there was a delay in the starting of the movie "12 Years a Slave", but things happen. With that, "You can satisfiy some of the people sometime but never all the people all the time". I read some of the complaints from some of the moviegoers. There is a sign posted "NO CELL PHONE". That message is posted for everyone. Next I do not believe the ushers cussed at the young partons left behind my their mother. We enjoyed the movie and the theater.

Provided by YP.comI have never had anyone be rude to me at this Cinema, and it is clean and very nice. My only gripe is the cost of not only the tickets but resfreshments. If families could actually get refreshments at a lower cost they would go to see more flicks.

Provided by YPmobilethe people are rude and unprofessional. Instead of trying to help people they basically rip you off. I took my son to see project x but right before the movie I had to leave. My other child was sick. So my son and his friends stayed. Well they went out for snacks and left their ticket stubs in the movie. As well as their bags, the usher got smart with them and cussed them walked them back in to get their bags but wouldn't let them stay for the movie. My son called me and tried to get a manager to speak to me but he said he wasn't going to get on the blank phone. So I am taki.g a nice trip up there tomorrow.

Provided by YP.comI have a huge complaint. My husband and I planned to go to a movie last night for our 5th Wedding Anniversary. We both work 60+ hour weeks and have a 7 month old daughter, so movie time is rare. In fact, it has been a couple of years since we have been. Anyway, we bought tickets to Green Lantern in 3-D. The tickets were $24.50 for both of us. The movie began at 7:25. My husband left his phone on vibrate because our 7 month daughter was staying with his sister and he wanted to make sure they could get in touch with us if needed. At 8:13, my husband received a text message from someone else, but he checked it quickly just to make sure. Forty minutes later, at 8:53 ( I looked at my watch once we were out of the theater) He was asked to leave the theater for having his phone out. Of course, I left too because I wasn't going to stay in there by myself. Once outside of the theater, we went to the general manager- Mr. Luker, and complained out how we were treated by the usher in the theater. He did not seem to care at all. We asked for our money back, but he only offered one movie pass for me, not my husband. I told him we would not be a patron of his business again, and he said he didn't care.
I understand that cell phones can be a distraction in the theater, but checking it one time for reasonable cause is not reason to be escorted out of a theater. On this form you have my phone number, e-mail, and address. I would like a refund of our ticket costs or 2 passes to a 3-D movie.
We are 27 & 30, reputable leaders in our community and we were treated like misbehaving teenagers. I expect better customer service from your facilities. Going to a movie should be an enjoyable event, not an embarassing one. I hope your corporate office will take appropriate measures to remedy this situation with you general manager. Until then, I will make sure my movie-viewing, and that of my friends and family goes elsewhere as to not patronize such unreasonable and unfair policies.

Provided by YP.comMy family has been without power at their home due to the tornadoes on 4/27/11 and came to visit me and have some fun since they've been sitting in the dark for 3 days. We were in the middle of the movie when my father's phone vibrated. He checked a text message and within seconds was asked to leave the theatre. There was no warning or anything. When asked why there was no warning, the usher, along with a police officer walked us to a tiny sign upon entering the theatre that is about 6"x 4" that says Please turn off cell phones before entering, If you're going to kick people out of a $9 movie, you can at least make sure that they realize how serious you are about checking text messages during the movie. The theatre manager was very rude and childish while showing us the signs as if to say "Well maybe you people should read the signs before you go into the movie." He mocked another lady who was kicked out for the same thing as she left. All 5 of us left because we weren't going to leave him waiting in the lobby. Pretty safe to say I won't be back.
