Ask the cost of each service before rendered. Make it very clear what you want / don't want. A simple check of a rash and a Rx gets a list of other tests, creams, "services" etc and the bill runs to $300 real quick. Make it clear up front what you will and will not pay for or you might be quite surprised at a costly bill.

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at OVH. Every time I have gone there it has been a wonderful experience. My dogs absolutely love Dr Mease and the other 2 doctors there. The staff is always courteous and helpful. They are a great practice and I would recommend them for anyone! They always accommodate for my financial restraints so that my pets are treated with the best care possible!

I saved up $400 to take my cat for a tumor to be checked and hopefully enough to treat her. The doctor to a culture and told me she'd send it out. When I got to the front desk, my bill was almost $300 for the visit and a tube of cream. I had to decline sending the culture out because it was $150 of the bill. I was told it would be viewed in-house and I would be called as soon as it was done. I assumed that they considered it important. Instead, the culture sat in-house all weekend. When I told them how I saved $400 so they could treat the cat, and now had hardly any money left, they gave me a brochure for Care Credit. Got a call on Mon that they couldn't tell anything from the culture. I wasted my money and got nothing in return. Now, I have to save money again and hunt for a compassionate doctor that won't want my cat to suffer.

We wish were able to track down this client at the time this review was posted because we do understand the frustrations felt when it seems you cannot afford the care your loved pet needs. Our goal at Oxford Veterinary Hospital is offer the best medical advise to our clients that will give the best treatment for their pets. Client do have the option to decline recommended services as was done in the case. If that is done , we try to find an alternative course, but unfortunately when a culture is not sent out , there is no in-house culture that can be substituted that is likely to give equivalent information. That is why CARE CREDIT is offered. This is a tremendous service that many of our clients use. Care Credit is a no fee, no interest line of credit that has helped many pet owner give their pets the diagnostics and care they need. Payment can be spread out over a 12 month period at no interest, helping to make proper care affordable when a client feels the care the pet needs is otherwise unaffordable or must be delayed. If this was not adequately explained at the time, I really do apologize . Our interests is in your pet's health and we hope he is well.
