My once "reactive" dog is always treated well and socialized. He has calmed down considerably since his visits to Doggy Day Care Pagosa. I really appreciate their "pack" philosophy. They are always helpful and the dogs like them.

Per sign on door, hours are from 8-12 and 1-5 weekdays. (12:00 to 1:00 is for Doggie Naps per the sign).I dropped my dog off @ 8 AM on Friday, 2/1/19, for some socialization with other dogs. My wife and I came to pick him up at 11:40 (20 minutes early) and when we got out of the car, we could hear the dogs barking and jumping up against the walls. Got to the door, the lights were out, and there was nobody home. (my dog and all the others had been left alone for an hour and a half that I'm aware of) Called both numbers on the door and got no response other than a message machine. The owner? (Jeff) got my message and showed up @ 12:30. He told me that sometimes employees leave early for lunch. I told him that I didn't appreciate my dog or the others being left alone for hours. Jeff said it was Colorado law to take an hour break.(maybe to take an hour lunch break but not to leave the dogs alone for?? hours) What happens if the power goes out, or a fire, or a hundred other things. I never imagined that during "Doggie Naps" the dogs were put in cages and abandoned for hours. Then Jeff expected me to pay full price. As far as I know, they could have left 2-3 hours before I got there. Who knows. No apologies, no break on the price, only a confrontational attitude from Jeff. After we got the dog into the SUV, he drank more water than he ever has at one time (a 12 oz. bottle and half of another for a 30 lb. dog). I'm not saying they didn't put water in the cage he was alone in, but I am saying I've never seen him that thirsty. Maybe he spilled his water, who knows, nobody was there. Don't appreciate him being abandoned for who knows how long with a bunch of stressed out dogs that are barking crazily, left alone in the dark. Personally, I don't think all of the other dog owners know that their dogs are being left alone in the dark for ?? hours. I wrote this less than 2 hours after picking him up so the details would be easily remembered and precise. Won't ever be going back
