How can Palm Beach County, let alone missions trip recipients overseas, possibly rely on a church that can't rely on its own alleged foundation?

Discover Church will accommodate you for three or four months, invite you to connect groups, fill out connect cards, visit the get involved table, etc. and also encourage you to take part in a true biblical community. But the instant the crowd disperses, you'll notice a pattern of reclusiveness. This includes (but is nowhere near limited to): forwarding you to someone else, double talking you, gazing at the ground, answering questions you didn't ask, humoring you without mentioning God, and my personal 'favorite', talking to you as if they're reading a cue card over your shoulder while talking to audiences with unscripted raw emotion.

This only got worse throughout the year and a half. Talking to the staff didn't help. I even left for 7 months in disgust, then came back for one last shot. But then the lead pastor himself, Chip, who inspired me to come out of my shell in the first place with his "Life Giving Church" series from January 19th to February 16th of 2014 (still available for download) AND who I respected as a pastor, a friend of mine, and a friend of others when the chips were down, got defensive with me without provocation. That was my red flag & last service which was September 13th, 2015.

If irony were strawberries, we would all be drinking smoothies right now.

I've come to the conclusion that Discover Church only cares about volunteering and an increase of the head count. Otherwise, unless you were part of a circle/clique that existed before 2009 or so, you'll never truly be 'one of them'

I say a community is about tearing the walls down, removing wedges between one another, building bridges, and communicate about any non-touchy, non-delicate topic. Cadillacs, pea soup, quicksand, taxation without representation, etc etc.

I'm still hurting as I type this, so I hope whomever reads this will think before going any further, and I hope they have better luck uncovering the other side of this story (if any) than I did.
