Provided by YP.comI can't say how this agency is as far as buying and selling houses but my experience in renting an condo through them was unbelievable. I have never run into such incompetence anywhere and I have renting many apartments and condos all over the SE. The condo was beautiful and at a reasonable price and I knew I wanted it right away.
First off, the agent showed up late to show the unit. Then she told me I would have to fill out an application but that she didn't have one with her. She showed me the unit but nothing else. It was filthy but I knew I could clean it since it was such a good deal. There were several things that didn't work but I figured they would be fixed when I turned in the list of things that needed attention when I moved in. That was the way it had always worked in the past.
I told her I really wanted the condo and she drug her feet for several weeks before she finally got around to completing the lease and telling me I could come pick up the keys. I tried to get her to meet me at the condo to exchange check for keys since the lock box was still on the door. She refused and said she would get the lock box the next week.
When I went by her office to get the keys she handed me the door key and then the mailbox key, explaining that she didn't know which mailbox was mine and for me to just try all of them. I asked her about the key to the pool and she told me I didn't need a key to get into the pool area. I informed her that I did since I had already went by there and couldn't get in. She told me to get a key from the onsite manager and that she would call her in the meantime, which she never did.
I stayed with my sister until she took the lock box off but was nervous the whole time about having my things in the condo knowing that any other agent could walk in anytime. When I at last went to spend my first night there, the air conditioner didn't work. it took several days to get that fixed.
I gave her the list of things to fix, one of which was the bulbs in the kitchen, there were six of them and only two worked. After several weeks when she didn't get back to me, I called and asked her is she was going to fix the things that needed fixing. She said that no, that they were like that when I moved in and that the list was so that when I moved out she couldn't claim that I broke those things. She finally got the carpet stretched after I tripped over it for five months and i thought she was finally going to continue to fix things.
I kept after her and finally decided that living there was just too much work. I told her I wanted out of my lease and she said I could get out of my lease and get my deposit back but I would have to have the condo professionally cleaned by a licensed and insured cleaned, the carpet cleaned by the same and the light bulbs replaced in the kitchen. It was a long list of hoops I needed to jump through to get my deposit back and I could see that she intended to keep my deposit.
The sad thing about this whole thing was that I really liked the condo and really wanted to stay there. It would have probably costs less than $300.00 to fix everything and my rent was $600.00 a month and the deposit was $600.00. Because of her incompetence, nobody won. I just wonder if the owner of that unit is aware of how she's handling his unit. I sure wouldn't want her handling anything of mine.
