Excavator arrived with the boom covered in greased (absolutely dripping in the heat). The driver commented on it but unfortunately did not mark it on the sheet. Dad has operated heavy equipment for over 40 years for everything from brushing to road construction with a perfect record. He ran the excavator from West County for a week, cleaned the boom as best as possible, while clearing trees and brush (which West County knew when we rented it). When we received the bill we were charged for 2 hours cleaning ($150) because the machine was covered in grease. There was no way of preventing, every piece of brush that was picked up was covered in grease, so was the ground, so we were we. The excavator had also arrived with the tracks damaged and clay packed (but that was ok). The owner was rude to Dad when he called to discuss the clean up charge. Only rent from them if you plan on operating it in a glass cage and if you see grease on the boom make sure that you send it back and don't try to be the nice guy!!!
