New management.... Do not stay there!!!!!!! Rip off they charge u 100.00 deposit then say u took a mattress cover which was NEVER THERE and keep or deposit!!!!!!! What a rip off for a dive!!!!!!!!!!

The plaza motel/banana peel is awesome! I've been coming for years! I have always had great service, clean rooms, If looking for an affordable hotel and a good time go to the plaza!

When you're driving from Virginia to Panama City Beach and you arrive late, you simply want a clean bed to lay in. When I checked in, didn't look around at all, just wanted a room with a bed.



Next day, I ate downstairs in their little dive and was surprised. I applaud the cook at their little restaurant because breakfast was great! Went to my meeting down there, returned to my room and watched TV while resting. Later during the afternoon, took the local newspaper to pool and relaxed. Peaceful 2 days that I stayed there (it was during the week). Not one problem while staying there.

At a glance, you think twice about Plaza Motel, only because it's older and we're use to staying at modern digs. But I was surprised. It's a mom and pop place; cozy (small) but the location and price is perfect. Across the street from beach and walking distance to everything (restaurants, bars).



Rooms are not branded luxurious but you are staying at a motel. There were clean towels in bathroom and no stains in toilet (yes, it makes a difference to me). Bathroom was clean.

One dislike - bathroom is small and had no room for all my products while getting ready for beach.



Television has cable; I could access internet on my laptop so wireless access was up and running.



Not a lot of staff around but the woman at front desk was pleasant, asked where we were from, gave directions to various restaurants down the street and just tried to be helpful. They also have a little eating place there at the motel.



Overall there is nothing wrong with the Plaza Motel. I followed my same rituals there that I follow at any other hotel. I saved a ton of money that went towards entertainment and food.

Affordable, clean place to stay. Definitely on the budget side, not a lavish palace, but if you're looking for a place to fit a small budget then this place will do. You get the basics, room with 2 beds, microwave, small fridge and pool. Restaurants within walking distance, beach across the street. Small but affordable.
