If you're about to sign a lease here, don't walk away, RUN! The absentee owner is the pure definition of a slumlord. When our bathroom sink wouldn't drain they sent the maintenance drunk to our apartment with a bottle of Drano. This didn't solve the problem, since the 25-yr. old pipes that have never been replaced were the issue. Nonetheless, each time we complained that the problem still hadn't been resolved up came the maintenance man with another bottle of Drano (if he came at all). Got cockroaches like most of the units here? You'll be glad to know they'll send maintenance with a can of Raid and some bait traps (instead of spending money for an exterminator).



Are you looking for a complex with plenty of entertainment options? You'll find that here. Cops visit the complex nearly every day to serve warrants or respond to domestic disputes. And since the slumlord doesn't do background or credit checks, this is a popular haven for drug dealers and criminals to call home. There was even a meth dealer busted in the building over from us, so if you like the idea of being a hop, skip and a jump away from your drug dealer, look no further!



To be fair though, not EVERYTHING was bad. They put a lot of money into the landscaping with a crew that mows the lawn and blows the leaves several times a week and they do keep the pool pretty clean. The laundry room is also decent, although there are usually a couple washers and dryers out of commission. Just don't expect them to spend any money repairing anything that goes wrong inside your unit and you'll be okay.



When you've finally had your fill of this place and decide to get out, don't expect your deposit back. After cleaning the apartment thoroughly and leaving it in a better condition than it was when we rented it, we were assured by the manager, Ronny, that the deposit check would be in the mail. No check ever arrived and the slumlord owner didn't bother to even respond to our complaint with the Better Business Bureau (not the first one that's been filed and ignored).



It's all very simple - they don't care about you as a tenant, they don't care about their responsibility to fix or repair anything and they don't care about abiding by the law when it's time to refund your deposit. If you ignored the advice and rented from them anyway, I would encourage you to take them to small claims court when they steal your deposit.
