Eyeballed is a good word to use. I brought in a Burberry purse to have the leather strap repaired - to make a new hole he eyeballed it and just made the cut. Ruined the strap, as it was, of course, way off. When I complained that I couldn't believe he did this - he had done it right in front of me - he asked how much of the $50 repair I think I should pay. Uh, you RUINED at the very least, the leather strap, if not the whole purse - the reason I was bringing it in to be repaired is because the leather straps match the leather on the bottom of the purse and it was impossible to find matching leather, as the purse was about a year old and the leather had worn a bit. $400 purse, ruined. I told him of course I should pay $0 and he screamed at me I was planning on having him (ruin the purse?!) do this all along to get out of paying for the repair and threw me out of the store - BEWARE.
